Exercise style around a black sofa

This week I challenged myself: to prove to you that it is possible to create several different universes around the same sofa. You will see, it is sometimes enough of three times nothing to have an interior worthy of the greatest decorators and this, without too penalizing its decorative budget. Small explanation ... style!

The game's rules

Step 1: the choice of the sofa

Among the range of sofas we offer you, my choice was on this sofa in black velvet and black wood, Napoleon III style.
Why ? First, for its impeccable rendering, its generous curves and its original style.

I opted for a black sofa because it is a timeless, timeless color that fits perfectly with everything. If it is true that velvet invites itself with pleasure in classical and elegant decorations, its warm side which immediately gives a feeling of soft comfort and softness will find its place in any interior.

Step 2: Instructions for use

I propose you to compose 4 decorative styles from this Napoleon III style sofa.
For that, I imagined very different universes from each other, taking inspiration from the most fascinating cities in the world.
Thanks to this exercise of style you will realize that it is simple to transpose this sofa in one place or in another.

The secret of a successful style game? Take the time but above all to listen, to believe in oneself and to follow his instinct. Above all do not listen to outside notices, break codes and mix styles while keeping a course of action. Let's go !

From theory to practice

The theory is good but practice is better: let's get to the heart of the matter!

A touch of exoticism in Marrakech

Nicknamed the red city, Marrakech is the pearl of the Moroccan South.
We love to get lost in the narrow streets of the souks, to be guided by the smells of spices, to sip a mint tea on a terrace near the famous Jemaa-el-Fna square, to stroll in the Majorelle garden or to stroll in the Gardens of the Koutoubia.

Marrakech is a summation of colors, smells and architectural splendours, where life bubbles whatever the time of year. A city that inspired many designers and stylists.

Bringing in a touch of exoticism at home is quite easy. If red and orange are the key colors of an oriental decoration, carpets, cushions, candles and a few decorative objects with metallic gold or silver tints will be enough to transform your living room into a palace of the Arabian Nights. Your Oriental salon will be jealous, believe me !

Travel to a city in perpetual motion: Tokyo

Tokyo is the city where the present is akin to the past and constantly flirts with the future. More than a city, Tokyo is a fascinating juxtaposition of heterogeneous neighborhoods. Its urban landscape fascinates and disconcerts. Skyscrapers, bright signs, temples and traditional sanctuaries: traveling to Tokyo opens you the doors of a city with many facets.

Bamboo furniture, decorative paintings, paper suspensions, red lanterns - these are some great ideas that will guarantee you a total change of scenery, and will make you take a far away trip without leaving your house.

Often acclaimed for its zen and relaxing atmosphere, the Japanese decoration is characterized by furniture placed on the same floor, low, rather purified. Limit the number of pieces of furniture in your living room, so as to minimize the space available and have straw mats, floor cushions to recreate the tatami atmosphere of Japanese houses. Finally, you can if you wish, give a place to nature. This must be minimalist because, according to the Japanese tradition, nature must be controlled by man, and in no case should we let oneself be invaded by plants. To meditate !

Immersion in the heart of the most beautiful city of the World: Paris

Visiting Paris for the first time is like being transported to a whole new dimension. There is so much to see, to do and to visit in the French capital, so much to discover at every street corner: museums, historical monuments, architecture, great avenues, parks and gardens, zoos, unusual and romantic walks. The magic of "the light city" operates on all continents and it is not to displease us, we frenchies!

When one evokes Paris and the art of living in the French more generally, one can not miss the Haussmann style, the name of the famous Baron Haussmann to whom one owes the transformation of the capital in the middle of the 19th century century.

Parisian chic goes through the most sophisticated refinement: parquet flooring in Hungary point or broken stick, jewelry handles, beautiful fireplaces, high ceilings, elegant moldings that give life to the rooms. On the wall, the set is dressed in bright white to offer a timeless decor but above all a very bright interior.

If you are conquered by this type of decoration, prefer the style furniture: Louis XVI style chair or Louis XV style armchair, will find their perfect place in your living room. However, it is entirely possible to play the map of the offset. A clever mix of old and new and even design will bring out the nobility and richness of the old. A realization certainly audacious but which seduces a lot.

Getaway inside a New York loft

Electric, frenetic, magnetic, magical, vertiginous, inventive, intensive, adjectives jostle to describe the city of extremes and superlatives.

New York is the most populous megapole in the United States, the most visited as well. And from its mythical Skyline, on the site of the Twin Towers, emerges the faceted silhouette of One World Trade Center, now the tallest skyscraper in North America.

When you associate New York with interior design, you immediately think of the New York loft. Did you know that the first "lofts" appeared in the 1970s in the United States? Originally this type of housing was economical, prized by a population with low incomes. Disused factories or warehouses abandoned by a population leaving the city were discovered by artists. This allowed them to invest places where they had the space and volume necessary for the expression of their art while developing their personal living space at a lower cost.

Transforming a two room apartment with a loft-like decoration is very simple. It is compulsory for an apparent brick wall covering. No panic there are cladding slabs that reproduce the brick to perfection! Unless you prefer the concrete effect on your walls? You will appreciate that the spirit of recovery is to be preferred in a loft style decoration: an old trunk becomes a bedside table, design chairs or different colors come naturally around the dining table, a big reel of cables becomes A coffee table ... The lamps of black architect are obviously of the part just like iron furniture of industrial spirit. The large letters will give the ultimate touch to your decoration. Here you are in your New York loft with vintage decoration!
