Cut into a slender obelisk and finely polished, this Mexican agate showcases the stone’s rhythmic elegance: successive chalcedony layers (micro-crystalline quartz) laid down over time, producing fortification banding and lace-like contours.

The natural palette moves through ivory creams, pearl greys and ochres, with occasional brick-red/carnelian accents.

Under soft side light, the banding gains depth while the crisp apex gathers highlights, giving the piece both mineral poetry and architectural poise.

In a cabinet-of-curiosities spirit, it styles beautifully with a small label (name, origin) on a light marble, travertine or ebonized-wood tray, reading as a clear, refined geological vignette.

Mexican agate is sought after for its whorled drawings (often “lace-like”) and graphic shifts of tone.
