Superb painting reproduction on wooden panel with aged and cracked effect, as if this painting had been discovered looking in an old attic, a work of art hidden from sight and carefully preserved.

This painting depicts a landscape with animal of "Girafe de Nubie" painted by Jacques-Laurent Agasse.
The original of this painting was painted in 1827.

This is a representation of a Nubian giraffe (North-East Africa region, on both sides of the Egyptian-Sudanese border, including the Nile Valley, in the Cataracts area, and the Atbara region).
This representation is the portrait in captivity of the animal represented here two Arab guards and the owner of the menagerie Edward Cross (1773-1854), who supervised the giraffe's brief stay in Windsor
This famous giraffe was sent by Mehemet Ali, Pasha of Egypt, to George IV. She arrived in England in August 1827 and was installed at George IV's menagerie in Windsor but died two years later.

It is a gender and also historical scene of the captivity of the noble animal, with careful guards trying to persuade him to drink. The fact that her huge neck is twisted is not an accident but a symbol of her bad condition.
