More info

Superb painting reproduction on wooden panel with aged effect, patinated and cracked, as if this painting had been discovered looking in an old attic, a work of art hidden from sight and carefully preserved.

This painting represents a historical scene of "The Apogee - (Consumption)" painted by Thomas Cole (american painter).
The original of this painting was painted in 1836.
This is one of 5 paintings of an ensemble that depicts the growth and fall of an imaginary city, located at the lower end of a river valley, near its encounter with a bay of the sea. The valley is distinctly identifiable in each of the paintings, partly thanks to an unusual landmark: a large rock is located at the top of a cliff overlooking the valley.

This work shows an extraordinary pictorial quality and particularly elaborated with exceptional precision.
