This fragment comes from a fresco adorning the east pediment of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.
The scene represented the birth of Athena coming out armed with the head of Zeus, the other gods attending the scene: the chariot of the Sun, Helios, emerging from the ocean marking the appearance of the day, and the chariot of the Moon, Selene, pulled by horses, plunged into the ocean.
This head is kept in the British Museum in London, England.

This sumptuous decorative sculpture in beige color, finely produced has a fantastic patina.
The base is in black metal.

The extreme elegance and perfection of this sculpture remains an exemplary piece of period ancient Greek art!
