More info

Superb painting reproduction on canvas with aged and cracked effect, mounted on an aged wooden frame also patinated, as if this painting had been discovered while searching in an old attic, a work of art hidden out of sight and preserved preciously.

This painting represents a landscape type scene "Storm on the Mediterranean Coast - Claude Joseph Vernet (French painter).
The original of this work was made in 1767.
Claude-Joseph Vernet demonstrated in this work the consequences of a storm with dark clouds above an angry sea, a shipwrecked ship, its anxious survivors, as well as ships in the distance.
As the sea beats furiously against the shore, the waves explode beyond the rocks in a white foam.
The moving waves, the distant rain well, the battered ship, and even the bodies of the fleeing castaways fill the scene with strong, opposing diagonal lines.
The lighthouse firmly erected in the center of the painting thwarts all this activity.

The strong colors of the castaways' clothing stand out against the palette of greens, grays and browns of the rough sea.
The clear skies cast an ominous glow over the survivors. The dark tones on the left and bottom edges and in the waves themselves draw more attention to the bright figures.

The scene as a whole suggests the strength and power of nature over man.

This work shows an extraordinary pictorial quality and particularly elaborated with exceptional precision.

This fantastic finely made painting will have the extreme elegance to add an extra touch to your interior decoration by decorating your walls with the elegance of the old.

Very nice achievement that will be perfect to dress your walls.
