This painting represents a landscape type scene "Mont St Michel, Cornwall" painted by - Clarkson Frederick Stanfield (English painter).
The original of this work was made in 1830.
After spending eight years at sea as a sailor, Clarkson Stanfield sought another job as a theater set painter.
From the 1820s, Stanfield also regularly exhibited paintings of marine subjects he knew so well from his own seafaring background.
Here it is a shipwreck story as the central point of his monumental canvas.
This majestic painting marks a turning point in the artist's career.
