This statuette, made of sand stone, is the naive and particularly eloquent representation of the symbolic figure that is the Sumba Horse and of the powerful bond that has always bound man to horse.

Originally from Indonesia where it is very popular, the Sumba horse is in fact a pony traditionally used during parades and dances at village festivals.

Considered a very intelligent animal, the young boys ride it bareback and make the horse's feet decorated with bells "ring" to the rhythm of the drums.
